East Orange Mayor Ted Green and City officials confirmed the death of Juan Jose Angeles Lopez, 30, who was fatally struck by a falling tree on Wednesday, June 26th.  

Mr. Lopez was attempting to secure an umbrella in his yard at 105 N. Munn Avenue when a tree on the property of 307 William Street collapsed on him.

Mr. Lopez leaves behind his wife, who is 7 months pregnant, and a 2-year-old child.  The City of East Orange is accepting clothing, baby items, etc. for the family and children. Donations may be dropped off at any East Orange Firehouse 24 hours a day or at the Department of Health and Human Services, 143 New Street, East Orange, NJ 07017, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Please designate all donations in care of The Lopez Family. Monetary donations may be made directly to the family via a GO FUND ME site at gofund.me/008282f0.
